I have a tendency to write long winded txts if I don’t get a reply. I become a little obsessed then if still no reply and send many txts of how I’m feeling and start to project my anger towards the person or analyse what I think is wrong with them. Maybe they are men who cannot express themselves enough or detached emotionally types . After many txts I feel silly and try to explain myself of why I wrote so much and sabotage the relationship or friendship. It all comes down to my self worth or need validation or feelings of rejection. The video I just watched is good and has valid points. I need to do more work on myself in being aware of my thoughts and actions of compulsive texting and of my self worth and consider sometimes my expectations of the other person.

Thanks for your comment! I know you’re not alone in this situation. I think text messages are almost set up for us to over-analyze when it comes to dating! We can’t read the person’s emotions, expressions, or if they’re even actually near their phone at the time. If you haven’t read it yet, I have another article on the blog about texting etiquette while dating. Having that awareness of your thoughts and actions in relationship to needing validation is a good place to start when you find yourself starting to get obsessive or frustrated. Hope that helps! xx

Thank you for this. I was in a very mentally/emotionally abusive relationship for a long time that left me with zero confidence and paranoia after it ended. A while ago I started dating a guy who has been wonderful, but I found myself in this same habit pattern of getting upset when I didn’t hear back right away, thinking I did something wrong or he wasn’t interested anymore. I don’t want to intentionally mess things up with my insecurities so watching this video has helped to get me back on track with learning to love/respect myself above all and bring that confidence into my relationship.

Because of that, it’s natural that some feelings of insecurity will come up within your new relationship. You’re acknowledging them and working through them which is the most important part. This came at the right time. I always tend to get really anxious when I don’t hear anything. It’s been four days since I last saw /hears from one of the guys I’m seeing…and of course it feels like a thousand years.

Thank you for sharing. I think, now I’m getting better on it. After a lot of mistakes, most of the time I waited for him to text. I do not write a lot making him wanted to find out about me. When I stopped waiting for him to text he texted back. Is important to stop checking the phone and get busy. My opinion…
